I suppose the another point that I was trying to make is that Avalon should
only contain the interfaces and contracts for the framework and any
implementations of those interfaces (whether by Avalon Containers or Avalon
Components) should exist in another project to reduce the dependencies.
While the ANT/GUMP/MAVEN build can generate jar files that
minimize/eliminate run-time dependencies, the projects as they stand do
have dependencies so far as developers are concerned.

But your point about excalibur and its container dependencies is valid and
could require the dependencies are refactored out.
Presumably this is why Phoenix and Merlin are separate from Excalibur.
