suggestion: wait a week (90% of most questions will probably be answered), reassess. Saw this coming for a long time (actually, wondering why it took so long :D); I am guessing a lot of work has already been done by the initial team.
I am also guessing that interoperability between your average avalon container and this geronimo thing will be as good (or as bad) as between avalon and JBoss, due to both supporting JMX...for some reason, if avalon (phoenix for example) were to be at the very core of things, I think we'd have some more answers already ;)
