My thread "Fortress + Cornerstone?" on avalon-users raised the questions whether there are already concrete plans to enhance fortress to use the new avalon meta package instead or additional to the existing fortress metadata architecture.

The cornerstone components provide up to this time only phoenix-style block descriptors, and it would be nice to use them "out of the box" in fortress and merlin, too - using avalon meta descriptors.

The meta info in the cornerstone package is recognized and an Avalon Meta Type descriptor is created automatically by the builder classes. But I agree that native version would be better. These can be added alongside the blockinfo descriptors - all that needs to be done is to add the @avalon tags and a minor update the the cornerstone maven.xml.

Any plans or roadmap for fortress supporting avalon-meta? Obstacles?

Berin's been digging into this subject.
