Having tried both base ClearCase and ClearCase UCM I would say that UCM is a definite improvement. It is also tightly integrated with WSAD (sans Eclipse) IDE that we use here. Have not had much go wrong with it (I did read Berin's comment). Mind you we do have a good support area.
