Hmmm. Maven developers claim HEAD currently as unstable. Therefore I use the 
1.0-branch from CVS ... but you have to realize, that only Maven itself is "released". 
All plugins have their own release schedule and are supposed to work with "any" Maven 
release. So for maven-plugins I use CVS HEAD. Works almost fine currently (the 
jar-plugin omits currently the Main-Class entry in the manifest).

Just one issue, you have to be aware of: If you've build the plugins from CVS, your 
Maven 1.0 RC1 will use the new plugins, too. To return to the plugins provided with 
the RC1 installation, you have to clean-up your local Maven repository.
