Hi,
I was wondering what kind of policy we have for using tools beyond the standard set (JDK, Junit and editor).
For instance, UML helps me in my daily life, but there is no expectations of UML in ASF.
Many UML tools are either fairly expensive or very restricted, but some vendors offer the full version for NPOs explicitly on their web site, but I suspect many others would be happy to help ASF with full versions for ASF related work.
I think there is a good case here.
I am also not fully knowledgable about interchangeable file formats, but I think this is being adressed by the UML community at the moment.
UML Interchange specs is MOF 1.4 (Meta Object Facility) [1]. There is also a process underway concerning diagram interchange and a draft specification [2] has been published.

Anyone has any opinion about this?
