And the more I think of it, it could be how everything should be done, including Merlin's own internals. A dirt-simple Component/Container Model, allowing actors to modify and respond to changes. Added with the ability to extension of such model, without changing other parts. Hmmmm.... MVC in different costume. Model = model, View = components, Controller = facilities/model modifiers. Worth looking into for a second.
