Accordig to Steve, the CVS HEAD of James is done with migration to Merlin. Release pending.
James are still dependent on Phoenix (HEAD and main dev branch). The buildfile in head includes the generation of a separate API and impl jar file that in turn is normally packaged in a Phoenix sear file. Alternatively you can take that API and impl jar and run it in Merlin with problem. But that's not part of James development at this time.
The relevant point to note is that the James crew are moving their codebase from CompoentManager to ServiceManager and clearing away Component dependencies. When that is complete - and the merge of HEAD is done, the James Project will at least have a sustainable Avalon option available.
In the meantime running James under Merlin remains part of the test cycle for Merlin HEAD.
