What do you think about a little repackaging of the sources into the 
following structure

  /instrument
     /api  --------------- as per current /instrument directory
     /spi  --------------- contents of instrument-manager interfaces
     /impl --------------- instrumentation manager without altrmi
                           or http classes (i.e. transport independent)
     /http --------------- the http transport
     /altrmi ------------- the altrmi
        /client ---------- the altri interactive client
        /transport ------- the instrument manager transport plugin
This will allow seperate builds for the respective artifacts and set 
stage for instrumentation experiments in merlin.
