Should I (in order) ?
1) book the existing 'avalon-components' into the svn repo as 'components' 2) apply my patches to that 3) delete old CVS using my CVS client
OR get new karma for avalon-components in CVS ?
CVS is frozen, but you do have karma for the SVN copy at:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/avalon/cvs-migration-snapshot/
But what you really want to do is probably along the lines of what I mentioned yesterday:

So my suggestion is to do a move of:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/avalon/trunk/planet/cornerstone/
to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/avalon/cornerstone
And then commit to that. However, doing the move isn't trivial because it will probably break several things, so for right now you could just commit to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/avalon/trunk/planet/cornerstone/
and we'll work out the moving of things later.
