Todd Lipcon commented on AVRO-712:
----------------------------------
Has there been nay further work on this area in the last 2 years?
Another use case I have is to be able to put avro-encoded data in map data
structures that are not item-comparison-based. For example, a trie structure
(eg burst trie, Judy tree, or mass tree) relies on simple bytewise comparison
and can be significantly more efficient than a comparison-based tree structure
like a red-black tree.
There are also string sort algorithms which are significantly more efficient
than comparison sort algorithms, many based on the above structures (eg
Alphasort, burst sort)
> define memcmp'able encoding

> It would be useful to have an encoding for Avro data that ordered data
> according to the Avro specification under memcmp.
