+1 We're currently running into this problem as well. 

I would love to see the priority of this ticket or the respective separate one 
suggested by Jakob to be increased. 
Converting from generic or pre-existing Json to Avro is such an important 
use-case and enabling this use-case would increase the developer experience 
dramatically.
