Ryan Blue commented on AVRO-1847:
---------------------------------
I'm not suggesting we change it to private, but leave it as-is. I'm thinking
that it doesn't make sense to expose a new public method with that signature,
when there are assumptions about relationships between what you pass in. It
would be better to expose a function that takes a Schema and a data model
(GenericData instance), then gets the logical type from the schema and the
conversion from the data model.
> IDL compiler uses ByteBuffer for decimal type even if logical type is
> supported

> Version 1.8.0 has added the support of logical types. A conversion class
> (Conversions.DecimalConversion) has also been added for decimal type.
> However, the IDL compiler still uses ByteBuffer for decimal types, which is
> not the same behaviour as data, time or timestamp type (added in AVRO-1684).
