Hi Calvin,

Yes, I use this machine for a few experiments and as a demo server for
baremaps. I’m currently in contact with a cloud provider and they would be
ready to sponsor a few TB of storage on their S3 compatible infrastructure (now
that we do support PMTiles, this option would be sufficient for the tiles).
However, it’s more complicated to get sponsoring for compute and it is needed
to demonstrate some of the features.

Yes, I guess that we will need to organise an overall review at some point. The
removal of licensed material from the code base was done progressively over
more than one year and I’d love to get as many feedback as possible.

Regarding the next release, the plan was to start the process in the coming
weeks. I think there are a few points with which the community could be of
great help:
- Automating parts of the release process now that Apache allows it (the
process was automated before we joined the incubator)
- Releasing JARs on the Apache maven repository
- Splitting parts of the projets into submodules (such as the support for osm,
flatgeobuf, and pmtiles formats)
- Reviewing the documentation web site and recording videos for features such
as live reload

Best,

Bertil
