Just updating the component setting and adding comments from Eddie's email to
the dev alias.
Eddie suggested... 'switch the default value from "null" to " " so that the
default behavior is to show an empty cell.'
As a workaround, he suggested to do something like:
<netui-data:spanCell value='${foobar != null ? foobar : 'Nothing to see
here"}'/>
