There has been some discussion about MODS relational database representations
of it. So I did some web trawling and found a SQL implementation of MODS. It
was produced by Patrick Yott for an application at Brown University.

http://dl.lib.brown.edu/yott/

I have placed it at
 http://bibliographic.openoffice.org/files/documents/124/2429/MODS-sql.txt

The schema was designed for a specific database application no claim is made
for its fitness for any other purpose. Bruce has observed that it does not
seem complete in that it does not have a table for the MODS element
'relatedItem' which is used for relating articles to their journals and the
like. So anyone planing to make us of it will probably need to do more work
on it.

To draw some conclusion to the discussion about SQL implementations of the
MODS for the OOo bibliographic application. If it is considered to be
desirable than it would be considered in a second stage of bibliographic
enhancements. In the first stage we plan to concentrate on xml storage of the
bibliographic data in flat files or xml database.
