So, yeah, that is a better choice than write your own ontology or wait a decade until the library of congress gets the importance of RDF.

I don't think that's a very fair representation.

If you can demonstrate the utility of a MODS RDF conversion over the XML representation, then I'd be extremely surprised if the appropriate folks at LC weren't interested.
