I have received some suggestions from Oliver Specht, the leader of the User Interface project about the Bibliographic / Writer interface, he wrote -
"From my point of view the new bibliographic component should handle everything related to the bibliographic data, styles and formatting of the output itself. The Writer should not know anything special about the bibliographic data. All interfaces/data mentioned below should be handled from the Writer side in a generic way. I think the Writer needs additional interfaces in the following areas: - A new text field that can contain externally defined data which is not handled by any Writer code except for storing/loading the generic data stored at this field and displaying the presentation string (see offapi/com/sun/star/text/XTextField.idl 'getPresentation()') - The possibility to store additional data at several objects ( to tag objects with their source metadata) Access methods to fields are already available but I think additional information about the position of the field has to be provided by the Writer (e.g. for sorting). - I suggest to generate the bibliography into a text section (offmgr/com/sun/star/text/TextSection.idl) " I have produced a web-page which is a technical summary of the bibliographic related API interfaces into Writer (including the two mentioned by Oliver above). It has links to the detailed documentation, as well as a couple of comments, by me, about our proposed additions.
