Hi Bruce,
could you give me access please? My username is "idiopathic".

You asked me for an intro, so here goes. I am a Bahraini, I trained as
an MD in the UK and I currently work as a researcher at the National
Center for Biotechnology Information in the USA. I recently wrote the
book "Free Software for Busy People":

My interest in this project in particular and open source software in
general is purely personal, I must say, not related to my day job...
However, one of the projects I am working on involves converting Word
WML documents into the National Library of Medicine's Book DTD:

http://dtd.nlm.nih.gov/book/

And one of the biggest difficulties we have is with embedded references,
eg those from PubMed. To my mind, having a word processer that has XML
as its native format, builtin XSLT filters, and in its future version,
builtin reference handling, is ideal. So I wanted to keep an eye on the
project. I do do some programming, but it's the naive Perl hacking of an
MD rather than the quality programming of a computer professional. And I
have to stress again that I am doing this as my own initiative, not
backed by anyone at the NCBI or the NLM.

Thanks,
mohammad
