Hi,
I am writing this letter to the dev mailing list for requesting a feature inthe bibliographic project. I am a scientist, a fan of Linux. Unfortunately, my work requires to use Windows and "professional" bibliographic management softwares for creating scientific publications. I am glad to hear that the next release of Openoffice.org will consist of a useful bibliographic model...
However, I would like to call your attention to the digital object identifiers. Several online journals publicate the articles online several months before it comes out in the printed form. DOI is a method to cite those online articles. Furthermore, several pictures, videos etc. can also be cited this way.
It would be very nice if the bibliographic modul of the OOo could handle those DOIs. For instance, not only the proposed bibliogarphic data of an aricle could be stored in the database, but its DOI as well.
More detailed info on DOI could be found on
www.doi.org website.
Best wishes,
Norbert Kovacs
