Sean Mackrory commented on BIGTOP-233:
--------------------------------------

Along these lines, I found a complete lack of a ports reference that covered
more than a small subset of the services in Bigtop, so I create one:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/BIGTOP/Network+Ports+Reference. I
haven't verified everything but most of it comes from other reliable docs (so
please correct / add as needed), but it would make a good reference if / when
we decide to go further.

> It would simplify things a lot for people running ufw on Ubuntu (the standard
> firewall package) if there were application profiles for the various things
> so that people don't have to look up ports and so on (and it makes firewall
> management much easier).
> This is really simple, for Hue, it would be a file named
> /etc/ufw/applications.d/hue with this content:
> [Hue]
> title=Hue for Hadoop
> description=Hue for Hadoop provides a web-based user interface to your Hadoop
> cluster.
> ports=8088/tcp
> Then, it can be enabled for the world as ufw allow hue and it would show up
> in ufw status:
> # ufw status
> Status: active
> To Action From
> -- ------ ----
> OpenSSH ALLOW Anywhere
> Apache ALLOW Anywhere
> Postfix ALLOW Anywhere
> Hue ALLOW Anywhere
