[~bmahe] apologies! you're absolutely right -- my bad in pushing to master
repos instead of a test repo that I always push for testing. I blame recent
Laptop upgrade that also upgraded my git ;-)
Anyway, I'm attaching the patch that went in. Note that there's still a few
very mysterious failures that I need to investigate. Any help in that regard
(especially if you can try to build with this patch on the latest Fedora) would
be *greatly* appreciated.

What is especially frustrating is that it seems to work fine on all the
