Looks good. A few nits:
# there's some weird xml formatting in the pom around commented out block
# in general, I'd rather not have us commit the commented out code
# I don't think you need a dep. on hadoop-common if you've got one on
hadoop-client
And, of course, as a side comment -- I can't wait to migrate to Groovy/Grails
for our test execution.
