If it is not considered to risky, it might be useful to prepare smoke tests for 
testing NameNode High Availability. We use such tests a little in my company 
(we have already implemented smoke tests that we can happily contribute to)

We test whether
* Two NameNodes are running and one is in active state and one is in standby 
state
* We can do run a failover command successtully ($  haadmin ­failover 
<toBe­Standby> <to­Be­Active­>)
* Whether we can transition the active NN into standby state, and move back to 
the active state.
