okay, I'm going to take a look at this
I'll use Vega (a more declarative interface to building visualizations -- a
nice, high-level wrapper for d3.js) so that we can get rid of the flash
dependency

> The BigPetStore web app is currently hosted in
> http://jayunit100.github.io/bigpetstore/ (needs flash installed to work)
> Would be nice to set it up on apache bigtop somewhere.
> Possibilities:
> 1) We could directly create a bigtop.github.io site by creating a gh-pages/
> branch under the existing apache/bigtop repo.
> 2) We could directly add the web app code to the bigtop source in the main
> branch. It doesnt require a web server : Simply browsing to the page is
> enough since its pure JS + HTML.
> 3) Anyone good at d3 or other pure js tools: We'd like to move away from
> flash at some point. but right now the app works pretty well as there is
> flash on fedora/rhel/centos, etc... so not too concerned.
