jay vyas commented on BIGTOP-1470:
----------------------------------

yup ! So in conclusion.

- Mahout folks have confirmed 0.9 does not work with 2x for all the APIs in
mahout.
- next BOM, we'll aim for tighter relationships with people in the community,
and try to work to see how others members are interested in helping to maintain
their releases.
- For now, we release 0.8 with mahout 0.9 not being 100% compatible w/ hadoop
2x (even though mahout tasks will work - some jobs that use custom job names
or use HadoopUtil will fail )

Thanks everybody for your patience and helping with this ! [~rvs] [~cos]

> The root cause is that bigtop uses the wrong parameter hadoop2.version when
> building Mahout.
> {code}
> mvn clean install -Dmahout.skip.distribution=false -DskipTests
> -Dhadoop2.version=$HADOOP_VERSION "$@"
> {code}
> For Mahout 0.9 , the correct property is hadoop.version in pom.xml of Mahout
> 0.9
> {code}
> <hadoop.version>1.2.1</hadoop.version>
> {code}
