Nate DAmico commented on BIGTOP-1600:
-------------------------------------

Sorry, just saw this, getting caught up on bigtop stuff as prep for Scale
conference is getting underway. Since late to the party some stuff to consider
for future passes below. Current content seems little wordy/repetitive. Also
if goal of 0.9/1.0 and beyond is to start making bigtop non hadoop/hdfs focused
and more general data/data-science should start to push the content in that
direction:

----------------------

Bigtop is an Apache Foundation project for Infrastructure Engineers and Data
Scientists looking for comprehensive packaging, testing, and configuration of
the leading open source big data components. Bigtop supports a wide range of
components/projects including, but not limited to: (main component here, not
exhaustive list and all small ones)

Bigtop components power the leading Hadoop distros and support many Operating
Systems, including Debian/Ubuntu, CentOS, Fedora, and SUSE.

Bigtop includes tools and a framework for testing at various levels (packaging,
platform, runtime, etc.) for both initial deployments as well as upgrade
scenarios for the entire data platform, not just the individual components.
(NOTE: seems we could event get rid of this section below the intro, seems
repetitive to talk about packaging again right after intro)
