Hi Rohan,

I should obviously mention that my response to Antonia's thread also
applies to your interest in the project.

On the subject of project duplication, the following is a quote from
https://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/document/show/gsoc_program/google/gsoc2013/help_page

    10. Can a group apply for and work on a single proposal?

No, only an individual may work on a given project.

    11. What happens if two students are accepted to work on the same
project, e.g. from an organization's Ideas list?

That's fine, a little duplication is par for the course in open source.

So, strictly speaking there is no problem but the two projects would
need to be distinct in at least the sense that we could be certain that
it was independently worked upon.

It is also very important for the success of a project that it should
not rely on anyone else's work that has not yet been completed, whether
that be another student or the promise of any Bloodhound committer or
other contributor. We are not going to be stopping you from talking to
each other and giving advice though unless someone wants to find a rule
that stops this!

And, of course, this advice is equally relevant all the potential
students so I hope it all makes sense.

Cheers,
    Gary
