Install Vagrant, Ansible and Virtualbox and then just use the command "vagrant up" in the deployment directory and it should work after a long coffee ! ;-) > OTOH , I notice some references to Vagrant so I wonder whether it is > possible to use this to deploy to other servers e.g. a VPS host . > Yes, Vagrant is useful to quickly have a VM available. All the install/configuration logics are in the Ansible scripts. You can use the provided Ansible scripts to configure a VPS host (you'll just need to change the target and the login/password) but you'll need a much more to be complete. I have done a more complete configuration for a VPS host (with iptables, fail2ban, automatic security update, backup, emails, etc.) but it's still a bit chaotic. If you're looking for a quick VPS host to try, I'd recommend http://openvz.io which is really cheap (<5€/month) and quite powerful. > p.s. ... please bear with me since I'm a newbie when it comes to > dealing with Ansible . > I started 1.5 months ago, so I am not that experienced either !
