we also have similar fix in twitter's branch. looks like you hit the same issue.
the patch looks good to me. +1. and mark the fix version to 4.4.0, 4,3.1. do we
need to mark this for 4.2.* branch? [~ikelly] this seems to be a critical bug,
since it affects the fundamental fencing mechanism.
