OK, I'm moving forward then.

One thing though: when we started using the automated tool to merge PRs
from Github, we stopped updating the CHANGES.txt file. I propose to just
copy&paste the Jira release notes in text format in the file (at the
release moment), since we know for sure that everything that got into 4.4
was tracked in Jira.

Any thoughts on this?
