Something to have in mind when discussing this - YAML is a superset of JSON as all of you are well aware. Today we can express the Brooklyn CAMP spec completely in JSON and it will just work. I've actually taken advantage of this in browser clients, using the built-in JSON support to convert objects in memory to markup, without needing to pull in any external libraries.
