Hi Valentin, Yes, I think we want to promote the Karaf distribution to be primary in 0.12.0. I'm assuming that is not controversial, so if anyone disagrees, please speak out!
So yes, we will want to start updating the documentation. I would expect that the non-Karaf version would become legacy in that version and be removed in the following version. Richard.
