Once tests pass I'm happy to merge this. Need to check the karaf dist is okay and all our uses of auth work as expected (ssh, jclouds, etc) -- so keep an eye on things even after merge. Also @kemitix -- worth pinging the jclouds list also to let them know the tricks you appllied for this version bump as they'll want the same.
