Thanks for pointing these out.
To give some more context, the two relevant files are the default
configuration files for MariaDB's my.cnf [1] and JBoss app-server's
standalone.xml [2].
Our files are based on the originals, but have been FreeMarker templated
to make automated customization of a deployment simpler.
So questions (in escalating order) are:
1. Are these config files GPL / LGPL, like the rest of MariaDB / JBoss AS7?
(I couldn't see any exception for the config, when I had a quick look).
2. Do we definitely need to include these config files in the NOTICE?
3. How much do we need to change / rewrite the config file for the
original license to no longer apply?!
e.g. we can write a very similar file for each from first
principles, following their documentation on the config file format.
This isn't ideal, as it would be more surprising for someone
familiar with the MariaDB / JBoss install.
4. Do we need need to delete these files entirely, and go back to
running `sed` commands to modify the config file that exists in the
download?!
For (1), we've got to assume "yes" unless someone can find a definitive
"no" answer (e.g. by e-mailing the JBoss and MariaDB communities - I'll
drop them an e-mail).
