Hello everybody,
my name is Riccardo Tommasini and I am a PhD student in Computer Science at
Politecnico di Milano (Italy).

let me first say that this project is just great and I am following the dev
list since a couple of weeks, it’s cool to see all this work in progress.

I got to know about Calcite at the last FlinkForward 2016 in Berlin and I am
interested in work on the SQL extensions to deal with data streams.

In the last days I studied everything I found regarding the Calcite project
with special attention to query planning and streaming related concepts. As far
as I understood, there is not a full implementation of all the concepts that
Calcite aims at incorporating for the QL fragment that regards the streaming [1]

Can you give me some details about how the development of this part is going?
What is the agenda for it? (systems, operators)
Which systems currently can run some a sub-portion of the SQL Stream queries?

I can contribute in that part if necessary. My research wants to combine
distributed data management techniques (static and streaming), semantic
technologies and deductive reasoning, so Calcite looks like a perfect interface
to target all the major BigData Platforms.

Thanks a lot!
