There is an old ticket regarding Join structure unreachable by default

This ticket contains some assumptions regarding the cause of the
issue, please see the text description and the image attachment.
So I have a question to Calcite project members: does this description
at least look like a real issue with Calcite's default join rules, or
it doesn't and the behavior described is most likely caused by
something else?
