The SLF4J (needed to use log4j) was missing from the 2.5 implementation of the
Quickfix component. The modifications support this and allow custom QFJ plugins
(log, message store, message factory) to be explicitly specified on the
component (e.g., injected by Spring IoC).
I'll update the documentation wiki after the patch is applied (with a note that
the updates will be released in 2.6).
