IMHO we want to, as Camel Extra 2.x is intended to work with Camel 2.x. However I propose to do it in the next major release of Camel Extra as this is not urgent (IMHO). I created ticket for this issue [1]. I'll solve this in 2.11.0 (unless somebody says that this should be addressed immediately).
