My understanding, with information about Carlos’ code based only on this thread, is... With the current GPL3 licensing of Carlos’ previous work, you cannot continue development of that code at Apache.
I think the ideal solution would be for Carlos to relicense the code under AL 2 and contribute it to Camel. This would open it to more collaboration and wider awareness. Other possibilities are: - Start a new component at Apache. - Continue work on Carlos’ component at its current location. I doubt this would qualify for GSOC related to Camel, but I don’t know any details.
