Hi Cameleers, FYI, for someone that might have an interest in organizing a Camel track at Apache EU Roadshow 2020. It's this July and it's an online event.

There has been a long-running community-driven Groovy conference in Europe each year in May/June[1] but this year's iteration was cancelled due to COVID. I think we could harness some of the planning that went into that event to fast track getting a Groovy track in the roadshow. They have an existing CFP for instance and existing sponsors (at least up until they cancelled). Rich, over and above discussions with Julian and the other roadshow organizers, is there anything else needed from ASF to approve adding such a track? Also, if we do leverage the work done by the existing gr8conf folks, I'd be keen to acknowledge them somehow. Would calling them co-organizers of the Groovy track be appropriate/acceptable? Thanks, Paul. This also gives us the opportunity to learn a bit more about online community events “first hand”. As this is no longer an EU only thing we of course welcome every hand to help. We drafted the Homepage: https://www.apachecon.com/euroadshow20/ (every feedback is welcome!). Current Ideas: We want to do 3 days with 4 hours each day Time would be 6 pm to 10 pm CEST (but maybe we rethink that now) We planned to make a special track about “Online Events” Are there any prepared Tracks from the aborted Roadshows that want to jump in? KAM? Trevor? We had several ideas about “online socializing”. One is a session where everybody cooks together (“in parallel”) under the guidance of Justin ‘foodporn’ McLean and his wife Next steps are: Budget estimation and sponsorship planning with fundraising (we estimated 20k€-25k€ over the very big thumb) Exact date selection (suggestions welcome) Find a Format and “Track Chairs” to get everything started ASAP Open CfP (do we still need a CfP if we collect videos???) I want to start the discussion here ASAP although we do not yet feel fully prepared but time is running. Julian (and Paul) -- Zoran Regvart
