Hello Camel developers, Short introduction, and a question about where a new contributor is most useful.
I am a software engineer with 15+ years of experience. My work is systems integration in healthcare: connecting third-party clinical applications to external EHR systems and moving clinical data between systems that were never designed to talk to each other. Java is my primary language, with Spring on the server side. Much of what I have built by hand over the years is what Camel implements properly as enterprise integration patterns, so I would like to start contributing rather than continuing to reinvent it. I am working through the contributing guide and the help wanted issues now. Two questions before I open anything. 1. Are there components that are currently under-maintained and would benefit from a consistent contributor. I am particularly interested in the healthcare-related components given my background, but I am equally happy to work wherever the need is greatest. 2. For a first contribution, do you prefer a small focused patch from the help wanted list, or is it better to start by reproducing and triaging open issues.
