Dear camel developers and users, in the last weeks I've worked on a potential redesign which will eventually bring Camel K operator to a major release (version 3). I invite you to give a look to the proposal [1] and provide any feedback or request through the usual communication channel. It's going to be a major development although we should not have big breaking compatibility changes between v2 and v3. We cannot provide a clear release date for this one, given that the majority of the work is performed during contributors' spare time.
The idea is to start the development and work during the next few months having in mind the goals provided in the proposal and completing, hopefully, by the beginning of 2027 or mid of the year. In the meantime we will continue working on the v2 in a regular way, releasing minor versions when there are enough new features or bug fixes. >From a development perspective, we've created a branch named "v3" where we will push the new development: any change in "main" will be therefore needed to be backported accordingly.
