If the 'broken pipe' is the result of a failed connection establishment (even though 'broken pipe' would imply otherwise), perhaps you're hitting either firewall state tracking limits or source port exhaustion. Does the problem temporarily go away if you leave it be fore a few minutes (expiring TCP wait periods)? -- / Peter Schuller aka scode
