I would recommend to take look at http://wiki.apache.org/cassandra/RunningCassandraInIDEA and/or http://wiki.apache.org/cassandra/RunningCassandraInEclipse and do the appropriate actions for netbeans. Feel free to create a "RunningCassandraInNetBeans" page if you get things to work properly.
