Bruce et. al.,

we have been using a Java - LDAP bridge for the past year without any major problems.

I can't recall where it was sourced from, but I think it was either open source code or somebody's pet project; either way it suited our needs and saved us a lot of mucking about LDAP bindings.

The API is quite straightforward, using simple data objects representing users, roles and groups which are inserted into LDAP or selected from it.

I can pass on more details, if that will help somebody.

Dave,

As you've quickly discovered, there is nothing out there to do
Java<->LDAP data binding. This was just one of the reasons I began
implementing this in Castor. However, shortly after I began this
effort, it got put on hold for various reasons. But, ironically, I was
just speaking to someone about this very topic last night and we both
agreed that this effort is necessary, and sooner rather than later. So
late last night I was looking at the work I had started on this back
in November. There's still a fair amount to do, but it's definitely
doable. I just need to get to a spot where I can dedicate some time to
it.
