Dear users I am very pleased to announce that a first release candidate of Castor 1.3 has just been made available and can be downloaded from the Codehaus at http://dist.codehaus.org/castor/1.3rc1
This is in preparation for the upcoming 1.3 release (feature release) , and there's a couple of non-trivial changes/enhancements in selected areas we'd like to bring to your attention: - Castor 1.3rc1 and later requires Java 5.0. As such, support for Java 1.4 has been dropped. - New binaries packaging: XML (data binding) has been moved to a separate (and new) JAR. - HTML documentation for older releases (up to 1.2) will be available for browsing as well. - The XML code generator has been extended to support generation of JDO-specific descriptor classes based on annotated XML schemas. - A new reference guide has been added, moving parts of the documentation to a new format, supporting HTML, chunked HTML and PDF by default. I will follow up with more details especially on the latter two features in separate emails. As always, for details about features added and bugs fixed, please have a look at the release notes at http://castor.codehaus.org/release-notes.html. For information about future releases, please have a look at the project road map (http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CASTOR), and please report any regression issues at http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CASTOR.
