Hi Stevo, that has been the case until recently, but as of 1.3.0.1 mvn:release-* has been used.
If you are asking yourself why this has taken so long, well ... Castor has (historically) a few bits and pieces that made it very hard to integrate with Maven at all. In other words, it has been a long road ....
