in v1, the date was shown in dd-mm-yyyy format and the date picker
automatically shown when the field had focus:

in v2, the iso format yyyy-mm-dd is used, and the date picker is not shown
unless click into field:

click in:

can we have config options somehow for the v1 behaviour to be the default?
