I am taking this to the list... We had a number of discussions in the
past about the fate of DVModeler (and DataViews technology in
general), and while there are a few interested users, there are
exactly zero interested developers. Please prove me otherwise.
I do feel like keeping it around is a good idea, but keeping it in
the main repo would always imply that we support this technology at
the same level as the rest of Cayenne. And we don't. I don't even
think we have enough commitment to properly review the patches...
I guess the right thing at this point would be to place the DV stuff
to a sandbox SVN folder and then wait see if the talk about revival
is not just talk. We can accept patches to sandbox. I guess we'll
start by doing "svn cp" of the DVModeler, and then when I have some
time, I can refactor the runtime framework to extract DV runtime from
Cayenne proper and into the sandbox.

Please reopen it.
There were several developers interested in this project on the
cayenne dev lists and I also have a few patches and there's nowhere
to submit them.
I think that including it in the HEAD will ease the "revival" of
the project.
There was no problem with DV modeler in 1.2/2.0 so why should be in
3.0?
Is this a Maven problem? (cause it looks to me that it's more an
overhead than a help, at list in the "complicated" build of canenne
modeler)
Thanks in advance,
Ahmed.
Add DV Modeler back to the HEAD.

Key: CAY-761
URL: https://issues.apache.org/cayenne/browse/CAY-761
Project: Cayenne
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 3.0
Reporter: Ahmed Mohombe
Assigned To: Andrus Adamchik
Priority: Critical
Please add the DV Modeler back to the HEAD. It looks like during
the "mavenization" it was left out.
Since 1.2 and 2.0 branch is "frozen" and "accepts" only bug fixes,
is very hard to submit patches for DVModeler this way.
The problem is also that the "structure" of the source tree was
totally changed (due to maven) so it's even harder to create a patch.
Thanks in advance,
Ahmed.
